Today you will explore the richest and most historic parts of the magical Morocco visiting Fes el Bali. You will be led by a local guide and visit key sites such as the Al Quaraouiyine University (the oldest university in the world), the Bou Inania Madrasa, The Chouara Tannery and Nejjarine Fountain. After breakfast you will start an explorative journey of the area, get to visit the oases, with a stop in Khamlia (village of Gnaoua) you will have the chance to hear a little concert of gnaoua music. Meet local nomadic families, later visit the seasonal Salt Lake along with various fossils area in Mifiss. In the afternoon, head back to Merzouga and check in to a lovely desert hotel or riad with dune views.
Get up early to see another fascinating sunrise on the dunes, then start driving to the west through Todra Gorge: a favorite destination for climbers and hikers, vertical cliffs rise way above a small river valley. In the afternoon, drive over the beautiful High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass to reach Marrakesh at the evening or late afternoon. Check into your riad for overnight stay.
