You’ll start your journey with an early pick-up from the lively city of Marrakech to travel over the magnificent High Atlas Mountains to the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (at 2,260 meters). After enjoying breakfast, we will continue our journey towards the majestic Todra Gorge, an immense canyon that rises 300 metres above the ground. Take time for a brief walk or photo session by the river before heading out through Tinejdad and Erfoud with its locally famous fossil workshops and date markets. Reach Merzouga in the afternoon and meet your camel caravan. Ride dusk-tinted waves on the Erg Chebbi dunes to your luxury or standard desert camp for the night. Spend the night around the camp fire, enjoying traditional Berber hospitality, local music, and drumming under the stars with a donner dinner.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes and breakfast at the camp. Then, embrace an adventure with a 4×4 in the area of Merzouga. Meet the beguiling rhythm of Gnawa music in the village of Khamlia, visit nomadic families in the desert, and explore the seasonal salt lake Dayet Srji. Then continue through the cedar forests of Azrou look out for Barbary macaques prancing about and the alpine-feeling town of Ifrane, before getting to Fes in the early evening. You’ll see the University of Al Quaraouiyine, the oldest continuously functioning university in the world, along with the Bou Inania Madrasa, the tanneries, the Nejjarine Fountain, and quarter for traditional hand crafts.
