It starts off in Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city. Alongside with an experienced driver, first you will be visiting the breath-taking Hassan II Mosque which locates above the Atlantic Ocean. Depart from Casablanca and journey north to the administrative capital of Rabat, Visit the highlights of this royal city such as the Hassan Tower, and Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Visit also the Oudayas Kasbah, later we continue inland through sceneries defined by rolling countryside for your next stop which is Fes, Morocco’s spiritual, cultural heartland. Arrive and check in your charming riad nestled within the ancient medina or nearby, then relax and unwind to this amazing city.
Following breakfast, set out on a half-day guided tour through Fes el-Bali, the best preserved and most complete medieval city in the Arab world. Get lost in the labyrinth of tiny winding streets, multi-colored souks, and exceptional heritage sites with your charismatic local guide. Top sites consist of Al Quaraouiyine College (established in 859 AD), the stunningly adorned Bou Inania Madrasa, the well-known Chouara Tannery, as well as the Nejjarine Water fountain. You will also visit artisan workshops to watch these traditional crafts being made. Have traditional Moroccan lunch in the Medina before proceeding with your tour to experience more modern Fes el-Jdid area. In the evening, head to your riad for another wonderful night.
This will be a scenic journey through the diverse landscapes of Morocco. Early departure from Fes, we stop in Ifrane, an exotic Alpine-style location. From there continue to the cedar forest of Azrou which is inhabited by the Bronze Bull Monkey. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains to reach Midelt for a lunch break Soaking in the vistas of dramatic rock formations and dense palm groves.
Later on, to the Ziz Valley. In the afternoon find yourself in the desert town of Merzouga, change leave the car and ride your camels and head out into the gold-painted dunes of Erg Chebbi to enjoy a fantastic night at a Luxury Desert Camp, where you will be treated to a traditional dinner, campfire music and spend the night beneath the Saharan stars.
Wake up in the early morning to see the beautiful sunrise after that have a nice breakfast at the camp; Then take a 4×4 desert trip around Merzouga region. First visit Khamlia to hear the Gnawa music played by the descendants of Sub-Saharan African slaves. You will also encounter nomadic families, be taken to fossil sites and with luck see the seasonal body of water at Dayet Sriji. Enjoy a brief visit and then head to the stunning Todgha Gorges, with walls of canyons that reach up to 300 meters in height. Spend some time walking in the gorge, breathing the fresh mountain and natural air. You will drive in the afternoon through the awesome Dades Valley, gateway of a thousand kasbahs and one of the great natural wonders of Morocco, Characterized by its dramatic rock formations, towering walls and views to flat barren terrain. Your accommodation will be in the Dades Gorges, where you can stay overnight in a comfortable guest house or kasbah with beautiful surrounding mountain views.
On your last day before getting to Marrakech, be prepared to take in more beautiful surroundings. You will begin your way crossing the Valley of Roses and Oasis of Skoura, to finally arrive at Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa). Visit the Taourirt Kasbah or take a short break to the infamous Atlas Film Studios. Later we drive on to the UNESCO protected village of Ait ben haddou, a dramatic ksar (fortified village) which used as a location for such films as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Discover the old trails followed by the pre-saharan caravans before heading up into the High Atlas Mountains, which offers dramatic and panoramic views of the mountains.
