Just after breakfast we leave the tranquility and nice scenery at Chefchaouen to colorful city of Fes. Afterwards, we make our way to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, get to explore monuments such as Bab Mansour, El Hedim Square and the Royal Stables. The afternoon will take you to Fes where you will check in at a riad inside the medina.
Upon completion of breakfast, embark on a guided exploration of Fes el-Bali, the oldest and most genuine medina in Morocco. Pay a visit to landmarks like the Al Quaraouiyine University, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Chouara Tanneries, and the Nejjarine Museum of Wood Arts & Crafts. After breakfast you will start an explorative journey of the area, get to visit the oases, with a stop in Khamlia (village of Gnaoua) you will have the chance to hear a little concert of gnaoua music. Meet local nomadic families, later visit the seasonal Salt Lake along with various fossils area in Mifiss. In the afternoon, head back to Merzouga and check in to a lovely desert hotel or riad with dune views.
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, then return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 for breakfast. Afterward, begin the drive through the desert landscapes, passing through Rissani and Tinghir on your way to the dramatic Todra Gorge. Take time to walk beneath the towering 300-meter cliffs before continuing to Boumalne Dadès, where you’ll spend the night in a charming kasbah overlooking the valley’s unique rock formations.
