After roughly two hours of driving you’ll take a break to explore the deep, canyon of the Todgha River, where narrow gorges are lined with towering limestone cliffs reaching up to 300 meters. It’s also an ideal spot for a brief stroll and photo background. From there, we will take deeper into the desert, passing lies Erfoud and Rissani, before arriving to reach Merzouga the door to the Sahara. Here, you’ll ride camels into the desert for a one-of-a-kind sunset and spend the night in a conventional Berber camp out under the stars. Dinner is included followed with some music for an incredibly special evening.
After breakfast and a final glance at the Sahara dunes, set forth to take the road through the grand arid and mountain landscapes of the south of Morocco. Venture through Alnif and the pretty villages of Tazarine and N’Kob, famous for their palm groves and kasbahs. Next travel further through the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most lovely river valleys. This off-the-beaten-track route provides an unusual way to explore Morocco’s rural heartland and some dramatic topography. Dinner and night in charming riad or hotel in Ouarzazate.
After breakfast, start the last stretch of your journey back to Marrakech. If time allows, stop at Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate, before continuing the ascent back into the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass.
