Continue on by to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and home to the imposing Gates of Bab Mansour, get to see the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum and the historic granaries. In the afternoon, move west to Fes. This ancient city is the cultural capital of Morocco and a place where spirituality and culture thrive like nowhere else. This day is aimed at understanding the complex world of Fes el-Bali, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s remaining medieval cities to bestill in use. Get to the Bou Inania Madrasa and perhaps the oldest university in world history, Al-Qarawiyyin University.

Pause for lunch then keep driving to the enchanting Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and ancient kasbahs. The day will soon be over, so that when you reach Merzouga. Mount a camel for a magical journey into the golden dunes and spend your night at a traditional Berber camp. A substantial dinner awaits you; after dinner enjoy clear local music and dancing around the campfire and all under a starry sky. Overnight in the Sahara.
Start your day with a peaceful sunrise over the dunes followed by breakfast at the camp. Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region and its cultural treasures. Visit Khamlia village to hear the hypnotic rhythms of Gnawa music, and meet nomadic families living in traditional tents. You’ll also explore nearby oases and the volcanic landscapes around M’ifis.
